Alt text, or Alternative Text is text that is associated with an image. It serves as a description of the image. There are a few reasons why Alt Text is important to have in your Yahoo! Store.

Alt Text allows search engines to “read” your images. Since only text can be indexed, Alt Text serves the very important purpose of describing the image to the search engine.

Additionally, some internet users have turned off the images in their browser. Typically, those with a visual impairment use a screen reader that reads the Alt Text to determine the content of the image. Others users that have images disabled will see where the image would usually appear with the Alt Text in its place.
